Troy Hooper
Growing up in Miami, in a family of animal rescuers and advocates, Troy developed a deep appreciation for wildlife and the environment at an early age. Due to his father’s passion for rescuing and relocating exotic cats and birds, Troy shared his teen years with a cougar, birds of prey, exotic parrots, reptiles, dogs and cats. With the ocean in his backyard and his father’s shared love for boating, Troy also spent countless hours exploring uninhabited isles near Miami. Trained in scuba at 9 years old, Troy has been an avid diver ever since. A career in the veterinary pharmaceutical field kept Troy away from the ocean for too long, so he left the corporate world in 2005 to pursue a more fulfilled life. Troy became president of a national animal advocacy agency, and eventually relocated to Charlotte, NC where he met his mentor and partner at a top ten nationally-recognized scuba training center. Troy assumed the role of Partner/Operations Manager at Open Water Adventures, and during many dive trips, realized his passion for underwater photography. He most recently spent two years full time on the island of Saba in the Caribbean, and has dedicated himself to his photography full time. Troy’s passion is teaching others to express themselves through photography and sharing the “Innerworld” with all. Where there is a willing student you find him uploading as much valuable information on them he can, and spending countless hours side by side showing them everything they could ever want to know about the underwater world and capturing stunning images of it..
Some of Troy’s accomplishments professionally. He has sold many images at charity auctions and his work is published in a biography of artist Thomas Chambers, by the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Troy has also been commissioned by municipalities to photo chronicle their historical art archives. More recently Troy has dedicated his time and photography to conservation efforts. He is the official photographer for Sea and Learn, an award winning series of lectures and research projects conducted on Saba every October. He spent over two years as the only working photo professional on Saba. Troy now spends everyday in the water and online spreading the word of Preservation and Conservation, and is seeking every opportunity to capture mind changing and inspiring images. Innerworld Images reflects the culmination of a lifetime of passion and curiosity inspired by the ocean and the beautiful planet it covers.
