So About That Hartenberger?!
November 2nd, 2009What’s a Hartenberger you say? Well…it’s a Torch/Lamp/Focus Light.
I use it exclusively as a focus light for my DSLR housing.
A focus light is a light source that you use to illuminate your subject so that your camera can see and meter on your subject faster and more accurately. The result is a crisper more in focus image in a shorter time. You get the shot you want instead of missing it because your camera focus motor was buzzing about. Of course it is a great benefit in low light, under ledges or in holes where you need light. But I use it on every shot; I want the speed and improved accuracy that the camera is capable of. I don’t want anymore images where I thought I got the shot clearly only to find out it wasn’t in focus later.
So why a Hartenberger?
After using and selling some of the cheaper or more popular solutions, I wanted the best. I wanted variable power, I wanted diffused soft light, I wanted rechargeable long life…I wanted a Hartenberger. I have been using it for nearly a year now. There have been no technical or reliability issues to date. I am so thrilled with it’s performance and durability that I became a dealer this month. I use and sell what I believe in, and for a focus light, it’s a Hartenberger. Oh and it has all kind of safety light settings, like flashing SOS for you if say you were stranded at sea! How cool is that! I mount mine on top of my housing, that’s what that square inset bracket on your housing is for, with an UltraLight mounting kit.
For Point and Shoot cameras you can mount an Ikelight Q40 or other small torch to your Ultralight arms in array of ways. They have 3 way clamps, torch mounts, and even longer clamps to eliminate another arm. You can add onto an already existing arm, add just the mounting ball to your base or they have a kit to mount it straight onto your housing.
